Certificate Program in Organic Agriculture
University of Georgia
Description
The Certificate Program in Organic Agriculture at the University of Georgia is a new interdisciplinary program of study that was created in Fall 2007. The certificate is similar to a minor for undergraduates, with faculty from various departments and colleges teaching in the program. To complete the certificate, students take four required courses and choose 6 credit hours of electives from a long list of complementary courses. The certificate program emphasizes experiential learning that allows students to combine theory and practice, in the classroom and on the farm, to increase their understanding of organic agriculture. Students from all disciplines who are interested in the discourse and techniques of organic farming and gardening are invited to apply to the certificate program. To be eligible for the certificate program, you must be an enrolled (either working towards an undergraduate or graduate major degree) UGA student OR already hold a degree from UGA.
