Description

Growing demand for food and fiber crops requires the need to maximize long-term sustainability of our agricultural systems and reimagine how we grow, market and transport food. This program is designed to provide a science-based understanding of the many facets of food, from sustainable production, food chemistry and safety, to policy and human nutrition. Students explore ways to produce food while conserving natural resources such as soil and water. Much of the education takes place outside the classroom, including the Soil Steward’s campus farm where students produce, market, sell and distribute food. Students also have the opportunity to gain knowledge of their role as food systems professionals through internships.
