Planetary Wellbeing (Minor)
Pompeu Fabra University
Description
The principal objective of this course is to expand knowledge and to understand the complex, interrelated and systemic problems threatening human and animal wellbeing as well as the wellbeing of the planet itself as a global ecosystem. It aims to identify integrated, innovative and interdisciplinary solutions to these problems. The Planetary Wellbeing project was inspired by other international initiatives. One of these is the Planetary Health Alliance, in which IS Global (a UPF affiliated institute) actively participates. The project also supports the sustainable development objectives (SDOs), a United Nations initiative which aims to achieve global improvements in 17 different areas including: poverty, hunger, health, education, global warming, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urban planning, the environment and social justice.
