Environmental Sciences (B.S.) & Environmental Studies (B.A.)
Spelman College
Description
Spelman College offers two climate-focused academic programs:
Environmental Sciences (B.S.) * The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences provides a strong STEM foundation for students interested in scientific research and technical careers. The curriculum emphasizes climate science, sustainability, and environmental literacy, preparing students for graduate school, pre-health pathways, or dual-degree engineering programs.
Environmental Studies (B.A.) * The Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies takes an interdisciplinary approach, focusing on the relationship between humans and the environment. Students engage in social, economic, and political aspects of sustainability and environmental policy, preparing for careers in advocacy, public policy, and environmental justice.
Spelman College also supports student engagement through the Environmental Task Force (ETF), which promotes sustainability initiatives on campus. Students may also participate in the Honors Program, which includes research opportunities and thesis completion.
