Description
Students are trained to design sustainable landscapes that balance human needs with ecological concerns. In our courses, we work with clients from state agencies, local communities and non-profit organizations. It provides students with invaluable hands-on learning, a rich portfolio, and real-world professional experience with design and planning projects at the local, national and international scale. With a strong design, practice and research focus, the program equips students with a deep understanding of the field as well as the essential skills for a successful and meaningful career.
Learning Outcomes
An understanding of the history of peoples' relationships to the land, and of the fundamental theories of planning and design intervention. An understanding of the physical, cultural and biotic forces which influence environmental design. Opportunities to creatively engage a broad range of real contemporary problems in planning and design. A working knowledge of the information, processes and techniques used in the landscape planning and design professions. The capacity to communicate with specialists in other design fields and in relevant social and natural sciences.
