Description

Duquesne University's Center for Environmental Research and Education (CERE) offers graduate level courses to students pursuing a Master's Degree in Environmental Science and Management, as well as to students pursuing Professional Certificates in either Environmental Science or Environmental Management.

Focus on building a strong foundation for today’s environmental professional through flexible class schedules and concentrations in environmental regulation and management or conservation biology with in-field research. • Collaborate with faculty to conduct cutting-edge research:

o Impact the environment by being on the front lines of today’s pressing issues such as hydraulic fracturing, water quality, sustainable agriculture and urban gardening to help find solutions and make a difference.

o Benefit from field research locations just outside Duquesne’s city campus at Murphy’s Bottom Ecological Project, Wingfield Pies and lower Allegheny River tributaries to study the region’s waterways that have seen a resurgence of species returning. CERE students also work on research in the Limpopo Basin in Southern Africa and in Belize.

o Gain institutional research reporting experience that will translate to today’s corporations by working on Duquesne’s environmental impact through greenhouse gas inventories and in depth campus sustainability.

• Set yourself for a successful career in environmental science or management! ESM Alumni are currently working at Environmental Protection Offices in 10 states, Environmental Consulting Firms, Sustainability Manager roles, and more. You’ll be intruded to these local professionals and more through the programs monthly environmental speaker series.
