Geography (BS)
State University of New York at Oneonta
Description
SUNY Oneonta’s geography program has three tracks: General Geography, Geographic Information Systems, and Urban and Regional Planning. Their mission is to give students a well-rounded perspective of geographic knowledge and skills that will prepare them to interpret social, physical and environmental influences at local, regional and global scales. They enable their students to become globally capable and environmentally aware. This interdisciplinary program prepares students for career opportunities in areas such as environmental management, education, disaster response, city and county planning, community development, and many more.
Outside the classroom, students will have many opportunities to do service learning activities, independent research projects and internships. Faculty-led field courses provide hands-on learning and in-depth study of cultures and environments; recent trips have ranged from a tour of Spain, Italy and France to a wetlands restoration project in the Mississippi River Delta.
