Description

The Aberystwyth LLM course in Environmental and Human Rights Law is your opportunity to engage with two of the most dominant current global concerns – the environment and human rights. You will engage with these both as distinct subjects and as two interrelated and often competing areas of law. You will also master the law-making process, preparing for legislative action and anticipating the realities of law in application. You will study domestic, European and international examples of each study topic and you will learn to balance the competing demands of societal perception, market freedom and individual and group protection. This Distance Learning programme will enable you to continue in full- or part-time employment whilst enhancing your career prospects and managing other commitments. Your study materials are prepared and kept current by members of the Law and Criminology Department, with the assistance of lawyers from other academic institutions and private practice in the United Kingdom. Under their tutelage, you will strengthen your rigorous analytical skills, your abilities in argument formation and your capacity for independent thought.
