Description

Human health is deeply intertwined with the health of the planet. This certificate explores the interconnectedness of human and planetary health, emphasizing its critical importance for both human well-being and the environment. You'll learn how to work toward sustainable health outcomes that benefit both. In this stackable short course (microcredential), you will gain an understanding of the relationship between human health and the environment, as well as the challenges and opportunities for improvement. You will identify principles for healthy, just, and sustainable communities, including sustainable health paradigms and global mandates. The course will also explore systems thinking in health, focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration, environmental, and social justice. Additionally, you will examine approaches to promoting human health and environmental health, particularly within the global food system and climate change. Finally, you will learn how to lead, design, plan, and evaluate co-benefit initiatives using systems thinking tools and strategies. Your assessment consists of two parts: a written report addressing a health problem in a relevant setting and a video presentation reflecting on your learning, with the total assessment equivalent to 2,500 words.
