Description

The Environmental and Cultural Sustainability Certificate program is designed for individuals employed in or seeking employment in fields in which sustainability concepts play an integral role such as: land use planning, environmental non-profits, government, transportation, and insurance. It is intended for students from a variety of backgrounds and will take a multidisciplinary, liberal arts approach to sustainability.

The certificate program consists of five courses, including classes in sustainable cultures, economics and energy systems, and two elective classes. Students may complete the ECS certificate as part of a Masters of Liberal Arts and Sciences degree, or independently. The program can be completed through full-time or part-time enrollment. All classes are offered in the evenings, face-to-face on the campus of UNC Asheville.
