Description

The two-year Master’s Degree Program in Urban and Regional Planning (MURP) prepares young professionals for a career in one or many of these: (i) preparing plans and projects for the cities and their regions, (ii) undertaking research on policies and processes of urbanization and urban development, (iii) advising on governance of cities and their regions, and (iv) preparing projects and overseeing their execution in the areas of housing, transport, environment, infrastructure and urban design in India as well as other developing countries. It also exposes the students to social, political, economic and financial dimensions of urban development and ethical dimensions of working as professionals. The students are trained to engage with scales from local project to city and her region to global, through hands-on studio exercises, intense theory, individual capstone project, and field visits in India and abroad during summer/ winter schools.
